Technology Solutions

One Site. One Owner. The Right Energy Stack.

Led by combined heat & power and supported by solar thermal, geothermal, and storage, every Kite project combines the technologies that fit your facility's load — not the ones that fit a product catalog.

65–85%

overall system efficiency — vs ~33% for grid electricity alone

Combined Heat & Power

CHP simultaneously generates electricity and usable thermal energy from a single fuel source, capturing heat that conventional generation throws away. Kite owns, operates, and maintains the system; your facility buys its outputs under a PPA or ESA — gaining resilience, predictable pricing, and a lower total cost of energy from one fuel input.

  • Electricity and thermal output from one fuel source — the highest-efficiency on-site generation available
  • Fuel flexibility: natural gas (§48 legacy), biogas / landfill gas (§48E), green hydrogen (§48E)
  • Structured for maximum available federal incentives under §48 or §48E — eligibility depends on fuel source and construction timeline

Best-Fit Facilities

Hospitals, food & beverage processors, universities, industrial manufacturers, hotels, wastewater treatment, data centers.

Agreement Type

PPA (per-kWh + thermal) or ESA (all-inclusive monthly service fee with guaranteed performance).

50–80%

reduction in water-heating costs from free solar heat

Solar Thermal

Solar thermal systems convert sunlight directly into usable heat for process loads, domestic hot water, and HVAC offset — at 60–80% conversion efficiency. As the thermal complement to CHP and paired with geothermal for year-round coverage, solar thermal offsets natural gas consumption and locks in long-term thermal price certainty.

  • Direct heat production at 60–80% efficiency, with insulated storage for cloudy periods and overnight demand
  • Integrates with existing heating infrastructure as a supplemental or primary heat source
  • 20–25 year system life with minimal maintenance — effective even on cloudy days

Best-Fit Facilities

Industrial process heat, hospitality and multifamily hot water, food & beverage operations, healthcare and institutional facilities.

Agreement Type

Thermal PPA (delivered heat) or ESA — no capex, performance and O&M risk carried by Kite.

Geothermal Systems

Underground thermal energy systems deliver consistent, around-the-clock heating and cooling with minimal surface footprint, virtually no emissions, and far less water use than conventional plants. Paired with solar thermal and CHP, geothermal anchors a comprehensive site energy solution that performs in every season.

  • Continuous baseload thermal output regardless of weather conditions
  • Minimal surface footprint and near-zero operating emissions
  • Combines with solar thermal for year-round heating and cooling efficiency that offsets natural gas costs

Best-Fit Facilities

Campuses, healthcare, manufacturing, and any facility with steady year-round thermal demand.

Agreement Type

ESA with guaranteed thermal performance; commonly bundled with solar thermal and CHP.

stored energy exactly when your facility needs it most

Energy Storage

Battery energy storage pairs with any generation asset — CHP, solar, or the grid itself — to store energy when it's cheap or abundant and dispatch it during peak-price hours or outages. Storage cuts demand charges, hardens resilience, and lets every other asset on site run at its economic optimum.

  • Demand charge management — shave peaks that drive the most expensive line items on your bill
  • Resilience: ride-through and backup capability during grid stress events
  • Standalone or paired — §48E eligible as standalone storage

Best-Fit Facilities

Facilities with high demand charges, time-of-use exposure, or critical uptime requirements — including data centers.

Agreement Type

ESA or capacity-based service agreement; typically bundled with a generation PPA.

Photovoltaic Solar

PV solar plays a supporting role within Kite's larger project stacks. Where roof or land capacity allows, PV adds zero-fuel-cost, inflation-protected electricity alongside CHP, thermal, and storage assets — diversifying the site's energy mix and improving overall project economics.

  • No ongoing fuel expense; predictable, inflation-protected energy costs for 25+ years
  • Minimal maintenance with long-term performance warranties
  • Best deployed as a component of a CHP + storage + thermal project, not as a standalone answer

Best-Fit Facilities

Sites with available roof or adjacent land and daytime-weighted load profiles, as part of a multi-technology stack.

Agreement Type

Bundled into the site PPA/ESA alongside the primary generation assets.
